Buying cigars takes more than paying for them and enjoying their flavours and aroma. As a serious cigar smoker, you should know how to use properly use humidors and how to store cigars. Here are some things that you should know about using humidors and storing cigars the right way
  • If you are into tobacco cigar smoking, you should invest in a good humidor. Humidors are like cabinets where you can store cigars. These humidors come in different styles, shapes, and sizes. But all of them have one thing in common-they keep the tobacco cigars fresh and flavourful. What the humidors have is they control the temperature and the moistness inside the cabinet.
  • Just like wines and other alcohols, cigars get better with age, if stored properly. This is where humidors will come in. They have the ideal temperature and moisture for a tobacco to retain its taste and smell.
  • Do not let the cigar be too damp because it will not burn well and it will be very hard to lit. A moist cigar can also damage the tobacco's wrappers. On the other hand, too dry cigars will also cause you discomfort because the smoke will be too dry and it will affect your taste buds and sense of smell. Too dry cigars also remove everything that makes me the best.
  • You should know that cigars should have the right kind of conditions-temperature, light, humidity, and friction. If you were able to successfully simulate the ideal conditions hey have in countries where tobaccos are grown, then you do not have anything to worry about.
  • Your humidor should not be placed near anything that produces ultraviolet light. UV lights have lots of negative effects to your cigar such as bleaching of cigar wrapper and higher temperature inside your humidor.
  • The temperature of the humidor should not be more than 75 degrees Fahrenheit. And depending on the temperature, the relative humidity should be 65% to 75% RH.
  • Cigars are stored in these types of place where they are naturally grown. This is why humidors try to create these natural tobacco habitats.
  • Usually, cigars are stored horizontally. The reason for this is because there is almost no movement inside the humidor which makes it difficult to mix moist air with dry air.
  • Try not to open and close the humidor frequently. Air and other things that will affect the optimum conditions inside the humidor might be observed if the humidor's doors have been opened and closed all the time.
  • Do not handle cigars unless you want to smoke them. Too much handling can cause physical damage to your cigars. Get a cigar once you decided to smoke.
  • If you do not have a humidor yet or if you are not planning to buy one because you cannot afford it, it's fine. Humidors are not necessary, especially if you will not buy cigars in bulk or wholesale. You can also use an alternate storage container such as tupperdor or igloodors. Tupperdor can be a plastic food container or a shoe box, while igloodor is like a cooler.
